Skills

A skill is one instruction you have written down so you never have to type it again: a house style, a required format, a checklist an answer must satisfy.

Where a bot is a whole persona, a skill is a single rule you add to a single message.

Using one

Press / in the message box and pick the skill. It applies to that message.

Writing one

Creating a skill asks three plain questions. There is nothing technical to fill in.

1. What do you want to call it? The name you will look for under /. “House style”, “Board summary”, “Client-safe language”.

2. When should Kuumba use it? One sentence. This is what tells Kuumba whether the skill fits what you are asking.

3. What should Kuumba do? The instruction itself. Write it as if briefing a colleague — full sentences, examples if they help. You can format it, and you can see how it will read before you save.

Your work is kept as you go, and Kuumba will not let you close the editor with unsaved changes without telling you.

What makes a good skill

• One job per skill. “House style” and “Board summary” are two skills, not one. Combined, neither applies cleanly.
• Be specific about the output. Length, format, what to leave out.
• Include an example where the rule is hard to describe. One short “like this, not like that” is worth a paragraph of explanation.
